• develops the concept of equivalent fractions, how they are created, and their relationship to the multiplication tables.  
• begins with manipulatives, moves to drawings, and then to calculation.  
• Very important groundwork concepts are laid for later work in fractions.

Booklet 5 - Simplifying Fractions

This booklet is designed for ten and eleven-year-old students (fifth grade).

Prerequisite: Booklets 1, 2, 3, and 4

This booklet: 

• works to further develop the concept of equivalent fractions and how they are simplified to lowest terms. 
• begins with manipulatives, moves to drawings, and then to calculation.  
• Very important groundwork concepts are laid for later work in fractions.
